Diamonds for Beam Instrumentation
نویسنده
چکیده
Diamond is perhaps the most versatile, efficient and radiation tolerant material available for use in beam detectors with a correspondingly wide range of applications in beam instrumentation. Numerous practical applications have demonstrated and exploited the sensitivity of diamond to charged particles, photons and neutrons. In this paper, a brief description of a generic diamond detector is given and the interaction of the CVD diamond detector material with protons, electrons, photons and neutrons is presented. © 2011 Published by Elsevier BV. Behavior of CVD diamond-based TL dosimeters in radiotherapy environments using photon and electron beams from treatment accelerators
Chemical Vapor Deposited (CVD) diamond has great advantages for use as thermoluminescent dosimeters in radiotherapy environment because of the reproducible high quality and controlled doping. This study compares CVD diamond Thermally Stimulated Luminescence response to that of a classical ionization chamber. Clinicallyrelevant features like the depth-dose distributions as well as the absorbed d...
متن کاملLow Energy Demonstration Accelerator (leda) Beam Instrumentation: Rfq-accelerated Beam Results
Beam diagnostic instrumentation is being developed for the LEDA, a 6.7-MeV, 100-mA-cw proton accelerator, presently being commissioned at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This instrumentation will be the basis for much of the Accelerator Production of Tritium and the Spallation Neutron Source linac. Located in the LEDA injector and the high energy beam transport (HEBT) this initial in...

The Beam Switchyard for the Stanford Linear Accelerator is a large Y-shaped area (see Fig. 1) containing, magnets, sl i ts , collimators, and instrumentation for beam observation. It has three main functions: (1) to momentum analyze the beam and determine energy spread a t the exit; (2) to transport the beam to the experiment under selected focusing conditions; and (3) to separate the interlace...
متن کاملDosimetric characteristics of active solid state detectors in a 60 MeV proton radiotherapy beam
The solid state active detectors, widely used for conventional radiotherapy, such as diamond detectors (DD) and diodes may be attractive tools also in dosimetry of therapeutic proton beams. Diodes are broadly applied in oncology clinics and routinely used for in-vivo dosimetry [1, 8]. These real-time detectors are rugged, relatively inexpensive and provide on-line readings, what allows for quic...
متن کاملComparison of transportation and centering ability using RECIPROC and iRace: A cone-beam computed tomography study
BACKGROUND AND AIM: Root canal treatment, especially in curved and constricted root canals, can be very difficult and time consuming. Several investigations have compared the reciprocating and full sequence motions in terms of shaping ability. The purpose of the present study was to compare the root canal transportation and centering ability of RECIPROC and iRace using cone-beam computed tomogr...
